About Simon
Simon combines his previous podiatry experience and expertise with his thirst for knowledge to provide the utmost in clinical care for LBF families. Having been a national level middle-distance runner in his time, Simon intuitively has a passion for paediatric biomechanics. Simon has developed a strong interest in dermatological presentations, and having recently completed his post-graduate training and accreditation through AHPRA for the Endorsement for Scheduled Medicines, Simon tackles many of LBF’s dermatological and soft tissue presentations.
Simon is able to prescribe medications such as antibiotics, antifungals and topical corticosteroids for the management of a variety of podiatric conditions. Additionally, he can use clinically relevant scheduled medicines including methoxyflurane (the green whistle) and benzodiazepines to assist with pre-operative needle anxiety, where necessary.
“Seeing a child move from an unnecessarily restrictive device into an ‘otherwise ordinary’ shoe with custom mods… and seeing them achieve greater movement and independence… that’s life changing. These kids just want to feel like everyone else and we can help them achieve that.”
As a seeker of knowledge, Simon has a passion for on-going education and is known for his ability to think ‘out of the box’. He has undertaken additional studies in diagnostic ultrasonography, which aid in the assessment and diagnosis of soft tissue conditions; as well as extending himself in the lab to create custom shoe modifications which can be life-changing for children.
In the latter part of 2023, Simon will be pursuing further studies within the field in the UK.
